Comic Book Sound Effect Dictionary!

[Note: Check This $#!% Out was originally a seperate blog but is now a feature of patokon blog ] If you love comics, or merely find them curious, you're sure to be somewhat fascinated with one of the unique features of sequential art - sound effects. The curious thing is that the earliest SFX were based on words that were already based on sounds that the words' meanings represented. RING sounds like something ringing just as GONG sounds like you just banged a gong. Get your SFX fix by following @ComicBookSndFX for tweets of entries from the Comic Book Sound Effect Dictionary (coming soon) or you can follow the English - Japanese version @AmeComiSFX that was previously only available at Tokyo's Comiket. Just remember...KRA-KOW!! is more than a place in Poland.

American Comic Sound Effect Dictionary

I have over 1000 entries in my American Comic Sound Effect Dictionary. I made it to sell in Japan, but I realize that I do have all the data in the original English as well! I think I'll start shopping it around to see what the response is. The Japanese version has been selling well and might possibly be picked up for publishing! We'll see. Best not to get too excited prematurely. Here's some of the letter headings designed by my good friend SONIC who also translated the entries into Japanese.

Comic Market Report

So Comic Market 72 went very well for us. We sold out of every issue of Fandomain 7 and every copy of the Sound Effect Dictionary. I think our location was good, there was a lot of traffic. The display was simple but eye-catching (Mayumi's idea). And I think a lot of people were wondering about Marvel's Civil War. Let's hope they are just as curious about World War Hulk, cuz that's our next main feature. Was it worth losing all that sleep? HELL, YES!! Now it's back to the grind! Almost forgot! New pic diary pic! I remember when there was a monster movie marathon on while we were visiting Grandma in St. Lou. I can't remember how old I was, but I do remember that "The Blob" was gonna be on and I really wanted to see it. The movie theater scene was the bestest! Thass sum scary stuff!!
