My thoughts
The gallery was great. Very expert advice and the gallery itself was very newbie-friendly. Many of the people who bought my pieces had never bought art, much less visited a gallery before.

The good stuff
And there's a lot of it!
A bunch of people came.
I met some new people and many people I haven't seen in a while.
A lot of people wished me a happy b-day!
It was my first time to sell my pieces and I sold pretty well (my prices being reasonable probably had a lot to do with that).
I gotta lotta wine (very nice wine and champagne as well!).
I gotta lotta snacks and I ate a lotta snacks.
My wife was a total rock. And a life-saver. I'm sure it's not easy to be married to a "creative."
When my former boss stopped by, the gallery happened to be packed! It's like when you run into your ex and you're with someone who is super-hot. And nice. And famous.

The bad stuff
I ate too many snacks!
I stubbed my next-to-littlest toe really really frickin' hard! And it still hurts like hell!
And that's it! Everything else was awesome!

Special thanks
To Gallery House Maya, and everyone I've met on the path my life has taken. No matter how short or seemingly insignificant the time we may have had, everyone I've ever met has almost always left some impression- had some effect that has led me to where I am now. Many a time I've made huge life-changing decisions on what might seem like a whim to some. Suddenly racing off to face or find my destiny. But actually I'm one of these slow cookers who let's an idea simmer for a long while (sometimes way too long) and then suddenly I boil over and BAM!! I start a new chapter in my life. Something I read a long time ago said, "to know and not to do is not to know". I think it was a Chinese philosopher quoted in a Japanese novel (Mishima, I think). Once I've actually made my decision I try to act as soon as I can. Do at least one thing that will set me down the path I've chosen. Keeps me from chickening out. Or from second-guessing (something that has held me back on occasions so numerous it's embarassing). So a huge thanks to all those who have supported me over the years and a final special thanks to someone who I owe a lot to... Me.
I'd like to thank myself. For having the guts to finally take the plunge to try to live off my art. Thank you, me. I love ya. Aww, shucks...

Lazy Day

Had a lazy day today. Been working on high gear for a while now. Guess I needed a break. Today's monster: "Chicken of the Sea".

IlloFri "late"

New Illustration Friday Illo. "I'm late! I'm late! And I don't even have a date!" I need to be finishing up my preperation for the Tokyo Contents Market starting Monday, but doing the Illustration Friday every week keeps me drawing! Other news: I may be moving soon, so we' ve been looking at places. Found a really cool fixer-upper in Kugayama. We love the area so it's a definite possibility.
